I finally got permission to let everyone know that The Fighting Aces are home.

They have been back for quite some time but I was waiting for the OK from them to say so. They are all back safe and sound.

Thanks to everyone who helped with water thinggy's and presents and care packages and letters. Lisa, Colonel Hunt and I appreciate it!

More on the Cartoon Flap...

I was sent this picture by Chuck--the babes babe from Iraq.

One of Chuck's aware readers sent him this cartoon with the following message regarding the WaPo Cartoonist, Tim Toles, who is the center of so much controversy this week. If you don't know what I am talking about you can read about it here and here.

Here is the email from the alert reader:

Hi Chuck:

    Thanks for your service.  I really appreciate it.

    The Tole cartoon isn't even original.  I'm enclosing a cartoon in the body of this message, drawn by the German artist Georg Grosz in 1918.  He was a soldier in the German army during the First World War.

    The cartoon is called either "Fit for Active Duty" or "A-1: The Miracle Workers," depending on who you ask.  Anyway, the doctor is pronouncing the skeleton "K. V." which means that it's fit for active duty.

    What are the odds that Tole saw this cartoon before he did his own version?

Christmas in Iraq

While it is only October, it is time to start thinking about Christmas. TwoBabesAndABrain is now asking for donations so that we can send the Fighting Aces Christmas Stockings. There are 66 guys in Iraq we think of as ours and we also have four Marines from Akinoluna we would like to include.

Any donation is appreciated. We would like to send the stockings by the end of November so they get them in time.
